Jonathan Tetelman is one of today’s most sought-after tenors and is acclaimed for his interpretations of Italian and French repertory. Born in Chile and raised in the USA, he soon made a name for himself at leading opera houses worldwide. He performs regularly at venues including the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Zurich Opera House, the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He made his Salzburg Festival debut in 2023 as Macduff (Macbeth). He has collaborated with many outstanding artists, including Plácido Domingo, Elīna Garanča, Jonas Kaufmann, Asmik Grigorian, Andris Nelsons, Teodor Currentzis and Kirill Petrenko.
As an exclusive artist with Deutsche Grammophon, Jonathan Tetelman has released two acclaimed solo albums, Arias and The Great Puccini.
Highlights of the 2025/26 season have included Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Vienna State Opera, Count Loris Ipanov (Fedora) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the title role of Faust at the Bavarian State Opera, the title role of Werther in his debut at the Zurich Opera House, Cavaradossi in a new production of Tosca at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome to celebrate the work’s 125th anniversary, broadcast live by Rai, and the Italian Singer (Der Rosenkavalier) at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus. He has appeared in concert throughout Europe and in the USA and South America. In 2026 he made his debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall with the guitarist Bernie Williams.
In the 2026/27 season Jonathan Tetelman will make role debuts as Samson (Samson et Dalila) at the Berlin State Opera and as Radamès in a new production of Aida at the Houston Grand Opera. He will also return to the Bavarian State Opera as Werther in a new production of Massenet’s opera and as the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), and to the Vienna State Opera as Cavaradossi. Other highlights of the season will include Rodolfo in a gala performance of La bohème in Bonn, concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic under Kirill Petrenko, recitals throughout Europe and gala performances in Germany, Austria and Monaco.

His recitals often bridge the worlds of opera, Lieder and art song, Latin American repertory, Neapolitan music and crossover, reflecting a belief that great singing should be both artistically uncompromising and universally accessible.
