The Swiss bass Jonas Jud studied at the Conservatorio di Musica Agostino Steffani in Castelfranco Veneto and at Yale University, where he performed as Speaker (Die Zauberflöte) and as Melisso (Alcina). From 2022 to 2024 he was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Zurich Opera House, where he appeared in roles including Second Soldier (Salome), Oberlin (Jakob Lenz) and Peter Quince (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Since 2024/25 he is member of the Theater St Gallen, where he has appeared in productions of The Love for Three Oranges, Macbeth, Elektra and Tosca.
Other engagements have included Caronte (L’Orfeo) for the Ouverture-Opéra in Sion, and Colline (La bohème), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) and Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Opernspiele Munot.
On the concert platform he has appeared in works including Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s Magnificat and Christmas Oratorio and Handel’s Messiah. In 2024 he made his Salzburg Festival debut as Second Servant (Capriccio).
In 2022 Jonas Jud was a finalist in the Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
