The Dutch violinist Janine Jansen enjoys an enviable international reputation, and works with the world’s most renowned orchestras and conductors, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the New York Philharmonic.
Highlights of the 2024/25 season have included an extensive USA tour with the London Symphony Orchestra under Antonio Pappano and European tours with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Klaus Mäkelä and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under Paavo Järvi. She also had a variety of projects as artist in focus at the Vienna Musikverein, and continued her artistic partnership with Camerata Salzburg. Other highlights included concerts with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under James Gaffigan and with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra under Michael Sanderling. She also gave the first German performance of Britta Byström’s violin concerto Shortening Days with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra under Sakari Oramo.
Together with her duo partners Denis Kozhukhin and Sunwook Kim she gave recitals in Europe and the USA, including at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Vienna Musikverein, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
In the 2025/26 season Janine Jansen is artist in residence with the Berlin Philharmonic. In this position she will perform concertos under Kirill Petrenko (Brahms), Simon Rattle (Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto) and Tugan Sokhiev (Bruch). Several chamber music projects are also planned with members of the Berlin Philharmonic and the Karajan Akademie. In the same season, Janine Jansen will also be artist in focus with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Other highlights of the 2025/26 season will include major tours with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Klaus Mäkelä, the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Antonio Pappano and the Tonhalle Orchestra under Paavo Järvi. Janine Jansen will also present two major projects in Europe and Asia as artistic partner of Camerata Salzburg.
Janine Jansen is an exclusive artist with Decca Classics. In June 2024 she released a much-praised recording of Sibelius and Prokofiev’s Violin Concertos with the Oslo Philharmonic and Klaus Mäkelä.
She is the founder and artistic director of the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht and co-artistic director of the Sion Festival in the Swiss Canton of Valais. Since November 2023 she has also been professor of violin at the Kronberg Academy, where she appeared in concert with Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica in October 2024 as part of the Kronberg Festival.
Janine Jansen studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek, Philippe Hirshhorn and Boris Belkin.
She plays the Shumsky-Rode Stradivarius from 1715, generously on loan from a European patron. Janine Jansen is a Pirastro artist and plays on Evah Pirazzi Neo strings.
