Hanna-Elisabeth Müller

The German soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller is recognized both as a leading concert singer and recitalist and as one of the most sought-after opera singers working today. She made her international breakthrough at the 2014 Salzburg Easter Festival as Zdenka (Arabella). Her interpretation of this role led her to be named ‘Young Artist of the Year’ by the magazine Opernwelt.

She regularly appears at leading opera houses and international festivals, including the Bavarian and Vienna State Operas, the Metropolitan Opera, New York, the Semperoper Dresden, La Scala, Milan, the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, the Zurich Opera House and the Salzburg Festival.

Highlights of the 2025/26 season included performances as Vitellia in the Vienna State Opera’s new production of La clemenza di Tito under Pablo Heras-Casado and Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Tōkyō Bunka Kaikan, along with her debut at the Paris Opéra as Countess Almaviva under Antonello Manacorda. She gave concerts with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Petr Popelka, the Orchestre National de France under Philippe Jordan and the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest under Karina Canellakis, performed in Haydn’s The Creation at the Salzburg Easter Festival and gave a recital at the Weiwuying International Music Festival in Taiwan.

She has also collaborated with orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin and Munich Philharmonics, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2012 to 2016 she was an ensemble member of the Bavarian State Opera, and participated in several international tours.

Her operatic repertory also includes roles such as Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Strauss’s Daphne. Alongside Vier letzte Lieder, her concert repertory includes Mahler’s Second and Fourth Symphonies, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem, Dvořák’s Stabat mater, Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder and Unsuk Chin’s Alice in Wonderland.

She is an exclusive artist with Pentatone. Following her debut album Traumgekrönt (2017) she released Reine de coeur (2020) and the Richard Strauss album Sinnbild (2022).

Hanna-Elisabeth Müller is a long-term pupil of Rudolf Piernay and participated in masterclasses with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Julia Varady, Elly Ameling and Thomas Hampson.
