Georgijs Osokins

Georgijs Osokins first gained international attention when he participated in the International Chopin Competition in 2015. Even before the final, he had received invitations, including a solo recital at the renowned ‘Chopin and his Europe’ Festival in Warsaw and performances at the NOSPR Concert Hall in Katowice, the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, the Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow and recitals in Switzerland, Germany, the USA, Canada, Russia, Ireland and the UK.
Georgijs Osokins has worked as chamber music partner with Gidon Kremer for several years. Alongside Lucas Debargue, he was named Kremerata Baltica’s first permanent guest artist. Following his public debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Latvia at the age of ten, he has performed with Kremerata Baltica, as well as ensembles such as the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo New City Orchestra and the Sinfonietta Cracovia.
Coming from a family of pianists, Georgijs Osokins began studying with his father Sergejs Osokins. He then studied with Georg Friedrich Schenck and Sergei Babayan and took private lessons with Dmitri Bashkirov, Oleg Maisenberg and András Schiff.
His successes include winning prizes at both the International Chopin Piano Competition in Moscow in 2014 and the International Piano Competition of the Conservatoire Russe de Paris ‘Alexandre Scriabine’ in 2009. He also won first prize at the 2018 Manhattan International Music Competition in New York.
Georgijs Osokins has received the Latvian Grand Music Award, the highest honour in the Latvian music industry, making him the youngest recipient in the history of the award. In November 2018 he received the Silver Cross of Merit from the Polish President.
His debut album of Chopin’s late works was released on the British label Piano Classics and was praised by leading Canadian, German and French music magazines.
