Florent Derex is one of the co-founders of Le Balcon. He is a graduate of the advanced sound technology course at the Paris Conservatoire. He is an expert in sound technologies, as well as different types of transaural and binaural listening (3D sound). The sound aesthetics of Le Balcon’s performances vary depending on how the production uses immersive technologies, including ambisonics, wave field synthesis and binaural sound recording. In 2013 he founded the production company B Media. Two years later, he launched the B Records label, which is dedicated to live recording and was initially marketed by the Naïve label but has since moved to OUTHERE Music. In 2016 he founded a label for Le Balcon, as well as audio-visual productions by other ensembles. Florent Derex set up the publishing house Le Balcon Éditions with composer Pedro García-Velásquez, which is dedicated to commissioning new works and arrangements.
