Ferran Mitjans

The tenor Ferran Mitjans began his musical training in 2005 at the Escolania de Montserrat, where he appeared as a soloist and took part in recordings of works by P. Miquel López, the Christmas CD El nostre Nadal and Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Officium Hebdomadae Sanctae under the musical direction of Quim Piqué, Eduard Vila and Bernat Vivancos.

He studied physiotherapy and singing at the Conservatori del Liceu, and received instruction from the sopranos Anna Ollet and Marta Mathéu. He also participated in masterclasses with the countertenor Carlos Mena and the baritone Marcel Boone. In 2011 he continued his training at the Cor Jove de l’Orfeó Català with Esteve Nabona, appearing as a soloist in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (2013 and 2015), Bach’s Magnificat (2015) and Handel’s Messiah (2016 and 2017).

Ferran Mitjans began his professional career in 2018, supported by the Salvat Beca Bach grant. He has worked with renowned European ensembles such as the Collegium Vocale Gent under Philippe Herreweghe, the young talent academy La Jove Reial de Catalunya under Jordi Savall and Lluís Vilamajó, the Cor Cererols with Marc Díaz, the Ensemble O Vos Omnes with Xavier Pastrana and La Grande Chapelle with Albert Recasens, and has also taken part in recordings with these ensembles.
