Étienne Guiol was born in 1989 and works worldwide as a video artist for opera, theatre and dance productions and for immersive video installations and projection mappings. Largely self-taught as a draughtsman and painter, he enrolled at the École Émile Cohl in Lyon in 2006 to study drawing and animation. He also studied the art of stained glass making at the Centre international du Vitrail in Chartres. In 2012 he co-founded the Studio BK for digital arts in Lyon, specializing in video designs for stage productions. The founding of Studio A+E in Paris followed in 2020; through this company he realizes his personal projects and projects for the stage.
Étienne Guiol’s opera engagements have taken him to the Paris Opéra, to Amsterdam, Venice, Milan, Lyon, Strasbourg, Marseille, Rouen, Nantes, Monte Carlo, Geneva, Lausanne and Quebec, to the festivals of Glyndebourne, Baden-Baden and Macerata and to the Chorégies d’Orange and the Salzburg Festival.
