Edison Pashko

Violoncello

Edison Pashko was born in Korça, Albania, and received his first cello lessons at the age of six from Kostika Tanto. He later studied with Spiro Tomé. In 1992 he embarked on further cello studies at the University of Arts in Tirana with Gëzim Laro, moving the following year to the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Florian Kitt’s class, from where he graduated in 1998 with distinction. From 1999 to 2002 he continued his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Valentin Erben.

In 2009 he was accepted into the stage orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. He joined the cello section of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra in 2010, before becoming a member of the Vienna Philharmonic in 2013.

Alongside his orchestral career Edison Pashko works as a soloist with European and Asian orchestras. He is the principal cellist with the Wiener Kammerphilharmonie and a member of the chamber orchestras Ensemble Wiener Collage and die reihe, both of which specialize in contemporary music. As a passionate chamber musician, he also performs with orchestral colleagues in groups such as the Küchl Quartet.
