Eddy Garaudel

Eddy Garaudel studied literature and musicology at the École normale supérieure and at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris. Following graduation, he began his career as a dramaturg and artistic advisor — with responsibilities including casting — with Pygmalion Choir & Orchestra. From 2017 to 2024 he contributed to all the ensemble’s projects.

In 2021 he made his directing debut with a production of Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges with the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine and singers from the Pulsations Festival Academy. In 2023 he directed Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice with Pygmalion in Halle 47 in Floirac (Bordeaux), a production that is still available to see on arte.tv.

For the Opéra National de Bordeaux he has collaborated with the composer Lise Borel on a chamber version of La traviata for three singers and four instrumentalists.

In 2024 he was the librettist for the re-creation of Voltaire and Rameau’s lost opera Samson at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, and directed the recital programme Moving Songs at the Opéra de Dijon.

In 2025 he was the dramaturg for Tiphaine Raffier’s production of Dialogues de Carmélites at the Opéra de Rouen.

Eddy Garaudel also regularly writes programme articles, including for productions of Carmen and Idomeneo at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
