Biography

Dominic Huber

Dominic Huber works as a scenographer and director on the expansion of experiences of reality in theatrical contexts. Since studying architecture at the ETH Zurich, he has created exhibition projects and numerous stage spaces in Zurich, Basel, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Vienna, Brussels and Lausanne, among others. He has designed a series of installation-like theater projects with Bernhard Mikeska and also works regularly with Lola Arias, Sebastian Nübling and Toshiki Okada.

His own performative installations have been shown in theaters as well as on location in New York, Zurich, Berlin, Buenos Aires and Jerusalem. Dominic Huber has been working with Stefan Kaegi and Rimini Protokoll since 2008. This has resulted in projects such as Heuschrecken, Situation Rooms, Welt-Klimakonferenz as well as Nachlass and Société en chantier for the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne and most recently Urban Nature in Barcelona and Mannheim.

In 2009, Dominic Huber received a work grant from the City of Zurich for a residency in New York City. In 2015, he was a member of the international jury for scenography and performance design at the Prague Quadriennale. He regularly teaches at the Zurich University of the Arts. With Situation Rooms (Rimini Protokoll) as well as The Vacuum Cleaner and Doughnuts (directed by Toshiki Okada), three projects in which he was involved were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. In 2019, Dominic Huber received the Swiss Theater Prize from the Federal Office of Culture.
