Davide Luciano

The Italian baritone Davide Luciano comes from Benevento and studied with Gioacchino Zarrelli, with whom he continues to work. He has performed at renowned opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala, Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and has made guest appearances at leading festivals, including the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and the Salzburg Festival, where he made his debut in 2021 as Don Giovanni.

In the 2023/24 season he has returned to the Vienna State Opera for Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) and his role debut as Lescaut (Manon Lescaut), and has sung Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) at the Met, Marcello (La bohème) in Mahón in Menorca and Don Giovanni at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Other recent engagements have included Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) at La Scala, Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) and Count Almaviva at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Marcello at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Malatesta (Don Pasquale) at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Rossini’s Figaro in a production of Rome’s Teatro dell’Opera staged at the Circus Maximus, Ford (Falstaff) at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia and Silvio (Pagliacci) and Riccardo (I puritani) at the Teatro San Carlo. In 2018 he made his debut at the Met as Belcore, returning in 2023 to sing Marcello.

His past engagements also include Mozart’s Figaro at the Teatro Real in Madrid and at Glyndebourne Festival, Leporello (Don Giovanni) at the Norwegian Opera in Oslo and the Theatro Municipal in São Paulo, Rossini’s Figaro at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, the Semperoper Dresden, the Baths of Caracalla in Rome and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Malatesta at La Fenice, Guglielmo at the Norwegian Opera, Don Alvaro (Il viaggio a Reims) at the Royal Danish Opera, Silvio in São Paulo, Gernando in Jommelli’s L’isola disabitata in Naples and Pacuvio (La pietra del paragone) at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

As a member of the Accademia Rossiniana, Davide Luciano appeared at the 2014 Rossini Opera Festival as Don Profondo (Il viaggio a Reims). Since then, he has regularly returned to Pesaro, as Haly (L’italiana in Algeri), Batone (L’inganno felice) and Macrobio (La pietra del paragone), as well as in 2018 as Figaro and in 2019 as Buralicchio (L’equivoco stravagante).

He has sung many roles for the Deutsche Oper Berlin, including Don Giovanni, Rossini’s Figaro, Marcello, Belcore, Cecil (Maria Stuarda), Don Profondo and Nottingham in concert performances of Roberto Devereux.
