Corinne Winters

American soprano Corinne Winters has appeared in more than 25 roles at major opera houses throughout the world, where she has been celebrated for both her singing and her acting achievements. In the 2021/22 season she made three house debuts: at Frankfurt Opera as Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, at La Monnaie in Brussels as Giorgetta and Suor Angelica in Puccini’s Il trittico, and at the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Jenůfa. She also returned to the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome in the title roles of Madama Butterfly and Káťa Kabanová. She makes her Salzburg Festival debut in summer 2022 as Janáček’s Káťa.

Corinne Winters has been internationally acclaimed by the press and by the public for her interpretation of Violetta (La traviata), a role she has sung at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Theater Basel, Opera Australia, San Diego Opera, Seattle Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, English National Opera, Opera Lyra Ottawa and Opera Hong Kong.

Other recent engagements include the title role in Moniuszko’s Halka at the Theater an der Wien, Káťa Kabanová in Seattle, Rachel (La Juive) and Desdemona (Otello) for Opera Vlaanderen, Tatyana (Eugene Onegin) for Michigan Opera Theatre and Arizona Opera, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) at Covent Garden and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Magda (La rondine) in St Louis, Léïla (Les Pêcheurs de perles) in Santa Fe, Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande) in Zurich and St Louis, Mimì (La bohème) at the ENO, Washington National Opera and Arizona Opera, Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) at Arizona Opera, Alice Ford (Falstaff) with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Soong Ching-ling in the American premiere of Huang Ruo’s Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Santa Fe and Liù (Turandot) with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela under Gustavo Dudamel.

Corinne Winters’s concert performances have included a European tour of Verdi’s Requiem with John Eliot Gardiner, Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra and Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasilieras with the Ensemble True Concord. Together with the tenor Matthew Polenzani she gave an acclaimed recital for the George London Foundation. She has given recitals of Spanish songs that feature on her debut album Canción amorosa at the New York Festival of Song, the Tucson Desert Song Festival and for Vocal Arts DC.

Corinne Winters graduated from the Peabody Conservatory and Towson University before becoming a resident artist at the famous Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. She was nominated for the Young Singer of the Year award at the 2014 International Opera Awards, and has won numerous prestigious prizes.
