Chey Jurado began his career in dance in early 2005 as a self-taught breaking and popping performer, together with his group of friends ‘Electroduendes Crew’ and influenced by his father, a dancer in the early days of hip-hop culture in Spain. Over the years, he has won numerous awards at international events such as Red Bull BC ONE, Juste Debout, Battle of the Year, Open Your Mind, Red Bull Dance Your Style, Who Got The Flower? and I Love This Dance.
In the field of performing arts, he has collaborated with companies and choreographers such as La Veronal, Roberto Olivan, Elías Aguirre, Dani Pannullo, Lokomamia, Cía. Malditas Lagartijas, Jordi Vilaseca, Antonio Carmona, Roy Ofer, Rojas y Rodríguez, Taiat Dansa, Perfordance and Peeping Tom.
In 2016, Chey Jurado made his debut as a director and choreographer with his own work AGUA in collaboration with Rotativa Performing Arts Distribution. The work won awards in several international dance competitions, such as Masdanza, Burgos & Nueva York, 10 Sentidos, HOP Festival and M1 Contact Contemporary Arts Festival. Since then, he has created a series of further works in collaboration with the cultural manager Patty Hinchado: his second solo Raíz; Por Parte de Mare with guitarist Antonia Jiménez; and, most recently, Marea Weekend, as well as the productions Hito in collaboration with Akira Yoshida and Samsara with Javito Mario.
Chey Jurado is also active as a teacher. He presents his research in workshops entitled ‘Opposite Side’ and teaches at festivals around the world. In 2022, he received the Premio El Ojo Crítico from RTVE, Spain’s public broadcasting company.
