Born in 1964. Theatre and film actor, and director. He studied acting and directing in Warsaw.
His first screen appearance was in 1993 (“Kolejność uczuć” directed by Radosław Piwowarski). Winner of numerous Polish awards for leading and supporting roles. He has worked with the most renowned artists of the Polish cinema: Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi, Marek Koterski, Małgorzata Szumowska and more, also performed in international film productions.
In theatre he has worked with such directors as Jerzy Grzegorzewski, Agnieszka Glińska, Grzegorz Jarzyna. Since his first role in Krzysztof Warlikowski’s show, “The Bacchae” (2001), he has been continuously collaborating with the director, appearing both at Nowy Teatr’s productions, and at Théâtre de l’Odéon in Paris where he has twice co-starred next to Isabelle Huppert.
Also works as an opera director (“The Gamblers”, “The Enchanted Mountain”, “Carmen”).
