Adèle Charvet is one of the leading French mezzo-sopranos of her generation. Her engagements in the 2025/26 season included Charlotte in a new production of Werther under Raphaël Pichon at Paris’s Opéra- Comique, Vendredi in a new production of Offenbach’s Robinson Crusoé at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the title role of Carmen at the Opéra national du Capitole in Toulouse. She has also sung Dido (Dido and Aeneas) on tour with Le Poème Harmonique, Berenice in Vivaldi’s Farnace with I Gemelli in Madrid, Paris, Geneva and Oviedo, a Josephine Baker programme with various ensembles at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and other music venues, Chausson’s Poème de l’amour et de la mer with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias and the alto solos in Bach’s St John Passion with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria.
Recent highlights of her opera career have included three important role debuts — as Ariodante in Strasbourg, Carmen at the Opéra Royal in Versailles and Charlotte with the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève — along with Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Glyndebourne Festival, Giulietta in Zingarelli’s Giulietta e Romeo in Versailles, Margret in a semi-staged performance of Wozzeck under Lahav Shani at the Verbier Festival, Bernard Foccroulle’s monodrama Le Journal d’Hélène Berr in Strasbourg, the title role of La Cenerentola and Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Toulouse, Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette) at the Opéra-Comique and Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande) in Rouen.
In concert she has appeared with ensembles including Le Concert de la Loge under Julien Chauvin, Les Musiciens du Louvre under Marc Minkowski, the Cleveland Orchestra under Bernard Labadie, the Berlin Philharmonic under Alan Gilbert and in numerous chamber-music projects and recitals. In 2023 she made her Salzburg Festival debut as Ascagne (Les Troyens) as part of a tour with the Monteverdi Choir and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique.
Following her stage debut as Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) and performances in Prince Igor at the Dutch National Opera, she made further debuts at the Verbier Festival, at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, as Mercédès (Carmen), at the Opéra National de Bordeaux as Rosina and at the Opéra- Comique as Javotte (Manon) under Marc Minkowski.
Adèle Charvet is an exclusive artist with the Alpha Classical label. Her extensive and wide-ranging discography includes three solo albums: Long Time Ago (2019), a selection of American and English songs with the pianist Susan Manoff; Teatro Sant’Angelo (2023), a multi-award-winning album featuring the first recordings of arias by Vivaldi, Chelleri and Ristori with the ensemble Le Consort; and Belle Époque (2025), a programme of songs by French composers with the pianist Florian Caroubi.
