Final Performance Acting camp — Der Menschenfeind

Alceste, the protagonist of Molière’s comedy The Misanthrope, is repelled by the hypocrisy and shallowness of the world around him. He lives by absolute honesty and demands it of others too – which inevitably puts him at odds with his friends and everyone else. What would happen if no smiles were faked, no compliments sugar-coated and no thoughts held back? Would a world of brutal honesty be better – or simply brutal? Are we really good people if we always tell the truth? And why do we lie in the first place? Guided by these questions, the young people at this theatre camp will explore Molière’s work and create their own stage performance through writing, scene work and physical improvisation.
