Serafina Starke

The German soprano Serafina Starke was born in 2000 and is currently completing her Masters degree under Daniela Sindram at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. In summer 2022 she took part in the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival, performing the Princess in Stefan Johannes Hanke’s children’s opera Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren and a Flowermaiden in concert performances of the second act of Parsifal under Daniel Barenboim. In April 2023 she made her debut at the Baden-Baden Easter Festival in Die Frau ohne Schatten with the Berlin Philharmonic under Kirill Petrenko.

In the 2023/24 season Serafina Starke will make her debut at the Bavarian State Opera as Queen of the Night in the children’s opera Max und die Superheld:innen. She has appeared in several productions at the Munich Kammeroper; her other engagements have included Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) and Flora (The Turn of the Screw). As a concert singer she most recently performed in Mozart’s Mass in C minor under Leopold Hager.

Serafina Starke is a prize-winner of the Dostal Singing Competition in Lower Austria, and has received scholarships from the Gianna Szel Scholarship Foundation and the Fritz Wunderlich Society. She received her first singing training with Antonia Starke and later studied with Ildikó Raimondi at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where since 2020 she has also studied violin with Werner Neugebauer.
