PHACE
Passion, fire and an unbridled delight in music-making without genre boundaries characterize the ensemble PHACE. Always in tune with the times and full of enthusiasm, the ensemble soloists and their artistic director Reinhard Fuchs lead audiences into poetical worlds. For many years they have worked with special concert formats, music theatre productions, and cross-disciplinary projects that incorporate dance, theatre, performance, electronics, video, turntables and much more.
Founded in 1991 by the conductor and composer Simeon Pironkoff as ensemble on_line, the group relaunched in 2010 and has since been called PHACE. Over the years, its quest for the new has led to deep artistic friendships with renowned composers, conductors and musicians. To date, the ensemble has commissioned and premiered more than 200 works, many of which have been recorded. Joy in experimentation and the highest artistic standards are the driving forces of this ensemble, which regularly expands to include guests from a wide variety of artistic disciplines.
Since 2012 PHACE has had its own concert cycle at the Vienna Konzerthaus, and in addition gives around thirty concerts a year in other important venues, including the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Barbican Centre in London, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Espacio Turina in Seville, Gare du Nord Basel, Kampnagel in Hamburg, Kings Place in London, the ORF RadioKulturhaus, the Graz Opera and the Philharmonie du Luxembourg.
