The German conductor Paul Krämer is chorus director of the Philharmonic Choir of the City of Bonn and artistic director of Kartäuserkantorei Köln. His artistic focus is both on a cappella works and on oratorio and symphonic choral repertory. Alongside his own conducting engagements, he takes rehearsals for renowned conductors and orchestras.

He has longstanding partnerships with the WDR Radio Choir, the Netherlands Radio Choir and the SWR Stuttgart Vocal Ensemble. He has conducted orchestras including the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, Concerto con Anima and the Cölner Barockorchester. His work takes him to Europe’s leading concert halls, including the Cologne Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Stuttgart Liederhalle, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Bozar in Brussels.

Paul Krämer has conducted the Kartäuserkantorei Köln since the middle of 2013. The choir regularly performs at the Cologne Philharmonie under his direction. In 2016 he also took on the position of chorus director of the Philharmonic Choir of the City of Bonn, which both performs the great oratorios and gives chamber choir concerts in Bonn. Alongside regular rehearsal preparation for the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, he and the Philharmonic Choir perform regularly both at home and abroad.

Paul Krämer studied conducting at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne with Marcus Creed and Peter Dijkstra. He was the holder of a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, and graduated in 2018 with top marks. He received further inspiration in international masterclasses and in rehearsals for Karina Canellakis, Pablo Heras-Casado, Nicholas Collon, Adam Fischer, Dirk Kaftan, Markus Stenz and Edo de Waart.

Since 2018 he has worked as a lecturer in choral singing for the WDR Radio Choir‘s choral academy.
