Krzysztof Bączyk

The bass Krzysztof Bączyk is a graduate of the Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and was a member of the Opera Academies of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw and of the Grand Theatre in Poznań, appearing in Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Ambroise Thomas’ Hamlet, Aida, Eugene Onegin, Le nozze di Figaro, Parsifal, Don Giovanni and Der Freischütz.
His participation in the Academy of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in summer 2012 laid the foundations for an intensive collaboration with the Festival. In subsequent years, Bączyk appeared there in productions of Cavalli’s Elena, Die Zauberflöte, Alcina, Don Giovanni and Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel. In January 2016 he made his debut at the Polish National Opera as Publio in La clemenza di Tito; he returned for performances of Die Zauberflöte, Carmen and The Fiery Angel.
In recent years Krzysztof Bączyk has appeared as a guest artist at the Metropolitan Opera (Aida, La bohème), the Paris Opéra (Don Carlos, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Tosca, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Iolanta, Don Giovanni, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Il pirata), the Teatro Real in Madrid (Don Giovanni, La bohème), the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and the Opéra de Rouen (Die Zauberflöte), the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona (Il trovatore), the Lyric Opera of Chicago (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Glyndebourne Festival and Cologne Opera (Luisa Miller), the Zurich Opera House (I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Alcina, Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Giovanni, La bohème), the Arena di Verona (Aida, Carmen, Tosca), the ABAO Bilbao Opera (La bohème) and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris (Alcina).
Krzysztof Bączyk’s performances as a concert singer include Mozart’s Requiem at the Opéra national de Lorraine and with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
His plans following his performances in Le nozze di Figaro at the Salzburg Festival include appearances in the same opera at the Hamburg State Opera, in La bohème at the Metropolitan Opera and in Luisa Miller at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
