Julie Brunet-Jailly
Flautist
The flautist Julie Brunet-Jailly began her studies at the Conservatoire de Grenoble and continued them at the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt with Céline Nessi and the CRR de Paris with Claude Lefebvre, and subsequently at the Paris Conservatoire with Pierre-Yves Artaud. There she came to know Pierre Boulez, with whom she worked on his piece …explosante-fixe… for flute and live electronics.
At the Paris Conservatoire she also met the composer Pedro García-Velásquez, who invited her to take part in the first concert of Le Balcon on 17 November 2008. Since then, she has appeared with the ensemble in numerous productions, including Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos at the Théâtre de l’Athénée, Fausto Romitelli’s Professor Bad Trip for Radio France and Stockhausen’s Donnerstag aus Licht from the cycle Licht at the Philharmonie de Paris. In Samstag aus Licht she took over the role of the Black Cat Kathinka.
She is also a member of the ensemble L’Itinéraire, with which she has developed her knowledge and practice of spectralist music.
Throughout her career Julie Brunet-Jailly has played with various orchestras, including the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and the Orchestre des Pays de la Loire. She also attended the academies of Ensemble Modern and the Lucerne Festival, where she worked with distinguished musical figures such as George Benjamin, Peter Eötvös, Heinz Holliger and Simon Rattle.
Julie Brunet-Jailly is a passionate pedagogue and much enjoys her teaching activities. She completed her music teacher training at the Paris Conservatoire and since then has taught in Paris at the Conservatoire Municipal Darius Milhaud in the 14th arrondissement.
