David Guerrier

David Guerrier began studying the trumpet at the age of seven. He graduated with the highest honours from the Conservatory in Lyon, where he also studied the horn, before completing his musical training with the European Union Youth Orchestra and the 20th Century Music Academy.
He has won numerous prizes, including first prize at the ARD Competition in Munich, and was named instrumental soloist of the year at the Victoires de la Musique in 2004 and 2007.
David Guerrier has appeared with leading orchestras and conductors, including the Orchestre National de Bordeaux and Hans Graf, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris and John Nelson, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Christian Zacharias and Diego Matheuz, the Orchestre National de France under Yoel Levi and Kurt Masur, Les Siècles and François-Xavier Roth, the NDR Radio Philharmonic in Hanover, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Vladimir Fedoseyev, the Euskadi Orchestra and Paul McCreesh and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and Marek Janowski.
He has also appeared at leading festivals such as Saint-Denis, Strasbourg, La Roque d’Anthéron, La Grange de Meslay, Colmar, Radio-France, Montpellier, Schwarzenberg, Verbier and Rheingau. In December 2011 he toured Europe with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and Martha Argerich.
His recordings include Saint-Saëns’s Septet op. 65, named Choc du Monde de la Musique and Gramophone recording of the month, and concertos by Leopold and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for horn and trumpet with the Paris Chamber Orchestra and John Nelson on Virgin / Erato, Schumann’s Konzertstück for four horns op. 86 with La Chambre Philharmonique and Emmanuel Krivine on Naïve and Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto with Martha Argerich and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra on DVD.
He has been principal horn of the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg. He teaches at the Conservatory in Lyon.
