The baritone Brett Pruunsild comes from Tartu, Estonia, where he began his musical training as a pianist, before switching to singing. In 2025 he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he studied with Bernd Valentin.
He appears regularly with the ensemble BachWerkVokal in Salzburg under Gordon Safari, and performed in a celebratory concert under the musical direction of Lilyan Kaiv, which marked the city of Tartu’s designation as European Capital of Culture in 2024. In student productions at the Mozarteum in 2023 he performed the roles of Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) and Peter (Hänsel und Gretel).
At the 2024 Mozartwoche, Brett Pruunsild sang the role of Salieri in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mozart and Salieri under Kai Röhrig at the Salzburg Marionette Theatre. Under Röhrig he also performed Harlequin (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Richard Strauss Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and at the ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna. In Summer 2024 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in the opera for children production of Orff’s Die Kluge.
Recent engagements have included the role of Schlendrian in Bach’s Coffee Cantata at the 2025 Salzburg Mozartwoche, and the title role of Don Giovanni in a production at the Mozarteum.
