With a broad selection from the drama, opera and concert genres, the Festival summer is once again represented in the radio programme of Ö1 and the programme of several TV stations.

The radio station Ö1, for example, offers a live broadcast of Harrison Birtwistle’s Gawain, conducted by Ingo Metzmacher and featuring a cast including Christopher Maltman (Gawain) and Laura Aikin (Morgan le Fay) on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 7:30 pm onwards. Then there is a live broadcast of the Mozart Matinee of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg under Ingo Metzmacher on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 11:00 am. The Vienna Philharmonic and Riccardo Muti are also transmitted live on Sunday, August 18, at 11:00 am. Furthermore, you may listen to the operas Jeanne d’Arc by Walter Braunfels August 3, 2013 from 7:30 pm) and Così fan tutte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (August 24, 2013 from 7:30 pm).

But all those who wish to delve even deeper into the world of the Salzburg Festival will not be disappointed. A great number of performances can be enjoyed comfortably in front of the TV. On July 26, 2013, the opening ceremony of the Salzburg Festival is broadcast live on ORF 2 at 11:00 am. Further productions, like the concert of the White Hands Choir, part of El Sistema (July 17, 2013), or Die Entführung aus dem Serail by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (August 26, 2013), will be broadcast by Servus TV. The TV station 3sat makes the Festival summer at home almost complete – for example Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi on August 3, 2013 (an ORF production in co-production with 3sat and UNITEL CLASSICA), A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy on August 3, 2013 (a production by UNITEL CLASSICA in co-production with ZDF and 3sat) as well as Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg by Richard Wagner on August 2, 2013 (an ORF production in co-production with ZDF, 3sat and UNITEL CLASSICA). And don’t forget the broadcasts of the new Jedermann by Hugo von Hofmannsthal (an ORF production in co-production with UNITEL CLASSICA) featuring Cornelius Obonya as Jedermann and Brigitte Hobmeier as the Lover: on July 28, 2013 on ORF 2, on August 4, 2013 on ORF III and on August 17, 2013 on 3sat.

Once again, the typical Salzburg Festival open-air experience is brought to you by the Siemens Festival>Nights on Kapitelplatz. Here, a broad audience can enjoy numerous productions, for example Jedermann (July 28 and August 24, 2013), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (August 4 and 30, 2013) or Falstaff (August 3 and 15, 2013), on a large-scale screen – free admission for everyone!
