Since the summer of 2008, the Salzburg Festival has been presenting the Young Singers Project, directed by Michael Schade (in 2008/09). During the upcoming season, the renowned mezzo-soprano Marjana Lipovsek will take on the directorship of the Young Singers Project. Together with Artistic Director Jürgen Flimm and Head of Artistic Operations Evamaria Wieser, she invites young singers to Salzburg for this project. These were selected through numerous auditions all over the world for the Young Singers Project, where their Salzburg scholarship allows them to work with Festival artists, visit rehearsals and study roles from the repertoire. In addition to lessons, there are four public master classes, led by prominent festival artists.
A final concert gives the young singers a chance to introduce themselves.
For 2010, an exclusive circle of ten young singers has been chosen, based on strict selection criteria: Lena Belkina, mezzo-soprano (Usbekistan), Claudia Boyle, soprano (Ireland), Vladimir Kapshuk, baritone (Ukraine), Ievgen Orlov, bass (Ukraine), Antonio Poli, tenor (Italy), Emily Righter, mezzo-soprano (USA), Andrè Schuen, baritone (Italy), Regine Isabella Sturm, soprano (Germany), Eleonora Vindau, soprano (Ukraine) and Erika Wueschner, soprano (USA).

Seit dem Sommer 2008 veranstalten die Salzburger Festspiele das Young Singers Project, das 2008/09 von Michael Schade geleitet wurde. In der kommenden Saison übernimmt die renommierte Mezzosopranistin Marjana Lipovsek die Leitung des Young Singers Project. Gemeinsam mit Intendant Jürgen Flimm und Betriebsdirektorin Evamaria Wieser lädt sie für dieses Programm junge Sänger und Sängerinnen nach Salzburg ein. Bei zahlreichen Vorsingen werden diese aus aller Welt für das Young Singers Project ausgewählt, um im Rahmen ihres Stipendiums in Salzburg mit Festspielkünstlern zu arbeiten, Proben zu besuchen und Partien unseres Spielplans zu studieren. Zusätzlich zum Unterricht gibt es vier öffentliche Meisterklassen, geleitet von bedeutenden Festspielkünstlern.
In einem Abschlusskonzert stellen sich die jungen Sänger dem Publikum vor.
Für das Jahr 2010 ist nach strengen Auswahlkriterien ein exklusiver Kreis von zehn jungen Sängerinnen und Sängern zugelassen worden: Lena Belkina, Mezzosopran (Usbekistan), Claudia Boyle, Sopran (Irland), Vladimir Kapshuk, Bariton (Ukraine), Ievgen Orlov, Bass (Ukraine), Antonio Poli, Tenor (Italien), Emily Righter, Mezzosopran (USA), Andrè Schuen, Bariton (Italien), Regine Isabella Sturm, Sopran (Deutschland), Eleonora Vindau, Sopran (Ukraine) und Erika Wueschner, Sopran (USA).
