1930

August 1 – 31

Another artist closely associated with the Festival passed away: the painter and sculptor Anton Faistauer, whose death was announced on 13 February. In the summer the Festival celebrated its tenth anniversary with a great many festivities; the area in front of the Festival Theatre was renamed Max Reinhardt Square, and a bust of the great director and co-founder of the Festival was placed in the Faistauer Foyer. The programme presented a sort of retrospective of the many productions mounted in the preceding decade.

1930: Le nozze di Figaro. Wilhelm Rode (Count), Lilli Claus (Barbarina), Erich Zimmermann (Basilio), director Lothar Wallerstein, Adele Kern (Susanna), Karl Hammes (Figaro), Victor Madin (Antonio), Viorica Ursuleac (Countess), Irene Eisinger (Cherubino), conductor Clemens Krauss, Gertrud Rünger (Marcellina), Karl Ettl (Bartolo, from left to right).
