The participants of the 2014 Young Singers Project
have been chosen. Director Toni Gradsack received more than 350 applications during the course of the past months. Faced with a wealth of choices, he selected 22 singers, inviting them to Salzburg for the summer. Expectations are running high!
With the Young Singers Project, in 2008 the Salzburg Festival created a high-carat platform promoting and supporting young vocal talent. The lessons the singers receive as part of their fellowship in Salzburg include not only musical aspects, but also stage rehearsals, language coaching and repertoire expansion. Once again, the participating musicians hail from all around the world: Israel, Australia, Italy, Germany, Austria, and Lithuania, to name just a few examples. During the 2014 Festival summer, the Young Singers are featured in two children’s operas: the revival of Die Entführung aus dem Serail and the new production La Cenerentola. Furthermore, they will appear in the opera productions Il trovatore, Der Rosenkavalier and Fierrabras, working together with the Festival’s artists.
The crowning finale of the programme takes place on August 16 at 7:30 pm at the Mozarteum Foundation, where the Young Singers Project Final Concert will be performed together with Camerata Salzburg under the baton of Theodor Guschlbauer. You may look forward to a multitude of musical surprises – let the joy and enthusiasm of the young singers carry you away!
