Simon Schwarz plays the Devil in the new production of Jedermann

The Austrian actor Simon Schwarz will be the new Devil on Cathedral Square when Jedermann
takes the stage this summer. In the new production by Julian Crouch and Brian Mertes, Simon Schwarz will join Cornelius Obonya in the title role, Brigitte Hobmeier as the Lover and Peter Lohmeyer as Death, among others. and in the film adaptation of the mystery Die Mutprobe
by Lisa Lercher, among others.
Born in Vienna in 1971, Simon Schwarz studied acting at Zurich’s Anne Woolliams School and at the Acting Academy “Ernst Busch” in Berlin. He also trained in classical ballet, studying at the Tanz Forum Vienna and at the Dance Theater of Zurich. After being an ensemble member at the Theaters in Klagenfurt and Lucerne and at the Joll Théatre Basel, he performed in numerous film and TV productions. For the role of Lukas in the award-winning movie Die Siebtelbauern by Stefan Ruzowitzky, he was named Best Actor at the Saarbrücken Film Festival. He was also seen in several crime productions on TV directed by Harald Sicheritz and Thomas Roth. Wolfgang Murnberger directed him in the movie versions of books by Wolf Haas: Komm, süßer Tod, Silentium and Der Knochenmann.
