For a week, the telephones at the Salzburg central office of the Siemens Festival>Nights had not stopped ringing: people were looking forward to La bohème
and were worried about finding seats on Kapitelplatz. Despite the summer heat, the space in front of the screen started filling up around 4 pm. The space beyond the rows of chairs was occupied by blankets, folding chairs, office chairs and bar stools, and even some bicycles! The atmosphere was wonderful and the stars on screen received generous rounds of applause.
Nobody can claim that anyone is tired of culture in Salzburg these days. On the contrary:
People appreciate the opportunities created by the Siemens Festival>Nights greatly, and a corresponding number of thank-you letters keeps pouring in. The catering tent on Kapitelplatz has been booked out for weeks and has been expanded by as many tables as possible. For the first time in the history of the Siemens Festival>Nights, the program brochures had to be reprinted – the first print-run of 60,000 had been distributed by the end of the first week.
The Siemens Festival>Nights continue until September 1. You can find the detailed program online at www.siemens.at/festspielnaechte or at www.siemens.at/kinderfestival. You may also find the latest and updated information at http://www.facebook.com/festspielnaechte.
