Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic – Chamber Music Final Concert
Print programme (PDF)
The Vienna Philharmonic’s Summer Academy in Salzburg aims to nurture orchestral players of the future – many professional musicians are former participants. Selected through auditions, for three weeks students of almost all orchestral instruments currently enrolled at Austrian universities receive intense tuition in chamber music and their own instrument in Salzburg. Approximately 20 different chamber music projects featuring very different combination of instruments and ranging from classical to modernism are each rehearsed with a member of the Vienna Philharmonic. Excerpts from these works are then presented in a grand final marathon: three concerts immediately following one another take place as part of the Salzburg Festival. In addition, the young musicians have the opportunity of appearing as stage musicians in one Festival production this season. The detailed programme will be announced at the end of the Academy – ensuring plenty of musical surprises!
Presented by the Salzburg Festival in cooperation with the Vienna Philharmonic
