Sarah Fitzpatrik

Sarah Fitzpatrick was born in Dublin in 1980 and studied Fine Art Printmaking at the National College of Art and Design in her hometown. In 2006 she moved to London with the goal of becoming a puppeteer. She completed a five-month internship at the Puppet Barge, where she was mentored in puppetry by Juliet Middleton, and in carving by Gren Middleton, co-founders of the marionette theatre. In Devon she was mentored by the puppet-maker John Robert. Subsequently, she was involved in numerous works at the Puppet Barge, animating both marionettes and rod puppets (The Tempest, Out of the Heart of Darkness, Scrooge). Apart from puppetry, she specialised in carving puppets, creating figures for the Movingstage Marionette Company (The Money Game), for the production Spirit by Susan Beattie at the Suspense London Puppetry Festival as well as working on the short film series We’re Puppeteers! produced by the station Nick Jr. UK.
Most recently, FutureDeluxe hired her for the filming of the music video for This, a track by the Berlin duo of musicians Modeselektor featuring Thom Yorke. She is currently carving a set of puppets for a new production of the Puppet Barge, scheduled for its premiere in the spring of 2013.
