Mohsen Nouri, puppeteer and actor, was born in 1977 in London and studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. His first engagement was at the Little Angel Theatre there (Gods, Mortals and Mayhem!). He subsequently appeared in many productions on the puppet theatre stage, including Romeo and Juliet, King Arthur and the Quest for the Grail (both directed by Howard Gayton), The Secret Garden (directed by Nigel Plaskitt) and Karagoz (directed by Steven Tiplady). In 2005 he appeared in the celebrated Walt Disney production of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy written by Douglas Adams with Martin Freeman in the title role. He also formed part of the puppeteer ensemble of the music video Conceived (Black Dog Films) of singer Beth Orton. Most recently, he performed at the Polka Theatre in Charlie and Lola’s Best Bestest Play (directed by Roman Stefanski) and in the international hit Peter Pan by JM Barrie (directed by Ben Harrison, Three Sixty Entertainment). As part of “Research & Development” projects he worked at the National Theatre and at the Young Vic, where his credits include War Horse (directed by Marianne Elliott/Tom Morris) and Wild Swans (directed by Sacha Wares). He also performed on the children’s serie In the Night Garden of the BBC. Since 2004, Mohsen Nouri has worked regularly with Sue Buckmaster and Theatre-Rites, appearing in In One Ear, Unfolding Andersen, The Thought That Counts, Lighten Up, Salt, Paradise as well as Mischief.
