Scott Koehler

Scott Koehler was born in Perth, Australia, in 1976. He studied theatre, film and TV at Curtin University and Murdoch University in his hometown. After obtaining his degree, his first engagement took him to the company of the Kaos Theatre Perth for Kaos World (directed by Phil Morle). He also appeared at the Perth Theatre and the Buzz Dance Theatre. In 1999 he received a Creative Development Fellowship from the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Western Australia and a further scholarship from the Ian Potter Foundation. This was followed by his participation in workshops, rehearsals and lessons at the New World Performance Laboratory in Ohio, USA. In 2002 he became a member of Philippe Genty’s company, appearing in Vanishing Point and Boliloc, among others, which toured across Europe, Asia and South America. In 2004 he developed a solo show from Lewis Carroll’s The Hunting of the Snark together with the set and costume designer Zoe Atkinson and toured this show to Australia, Spain and France. His first cooperation with Irina Brook was La Tempête in 2009.
