Marko Mimica
Born in 1987 in
Split in Croatia, bass Marko Mimica first completed a course
in trumpet performance at the Josip Hatze Music School in Split. In
June 2010, he graduated in vocal performance from the Music Academy
of the University of Zagreb, where he studied in the classes of
Martina Zadro and Gerhard Zeller (song and oratorio); he also took
private lessons from Dunja Vejzovic and Vitomir Marof to further hone
his technique. In 2007, he won the First Prize at the State Vocal
Competition in Dubrovnik and subsequently received a CEE Musiktheater
Scholarship. In the summer of 2010, he was among the finalists of the
Hans Gabor Belvedere Vocal Competition in Vienna. During the 2011-12
season, Marko Mimica holds a Franz Josef Weisweiler Scholarship at
the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Marko Mimica has
appeared regularly at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, where
his roles have included Papageno in Mozart’s Die
Zauberflöte, the Notary in Puccini’s
Gianni Schicchi,
the High Priest in Verdi’s Nabucco,
Dandini in Rossini’s La Cenerentola,
Pistola in Verdi’s Falstaff, Monterone
in Verdi’s Rigoletto,
Oroveso in Bellini’s Norma and
Colline in Puccini’s La bohème.
