The second appearance in the Salzburg Passages series by the Austrian Ensemble for New Music — on this occasion conducted by Johannes Kalitzke — is reserved for one expansive work which has something of the tranquillity of Feldman: Hommage à György Kurtág by Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf, who is associated with Brian Ferneyhough’s “New Complexity” circle. The piece will be heard on this evening for the first time in its complete version, a composition that ventures along an entirely new path — an insider tip for all those interested in crossing artistic borders.
