The Berlin Philharmonic and Sir Simon Rattle – a highlight towards the end of the Festival: Yefim Bronfman performs Brahms’ large-scale Piano Concerto No. 2, combining formal mastery and profound emotion. In his Symphony No. 3, Lutosławski set himself the task “to find a language which might be able to express things that are not just frightening”.
