ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

After 25 years, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra returns to Salzburg. Under the baton of Riccardo Chailly, it devotes itself to Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 – his so-called “Tragic Symphony”. The work has long been one that is held in high esteem especially by musicians. Thus, even Alban Berg stated succinctly: “There is only one Sixth – despite the Pastoral.”
