ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra opens its concert under Daniele Gatti with the hallowed atmosphere of Parsifal. The Waltz quotations in Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto – a memorial to Manon Gropius, who died at age 18 – will be echoed during the second part, which features Strauss’ Rosenkavalier Suite and Ravel’s apotheosis of the Viennese Waltz, La Valse.
