ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Four pilgrims make their way to Jerusalem to visit the stations of Christ's passion. They arrive at the Holy Grave, where they are moved by intense feelings and imagine the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. A reflection on the passion of Christ from the quill of librettist Stefano Benedetto Pallavicino, set to music by Johann Adolph Hasse who was a student of Porpora and Scarlatti and is regarded as one of the most important composers of the Neapolitan School.
